Team Leader – Overland (m/f)

Job description

The Team Leader manages and supervises all Transport Planning activities  while taking over functional and disciplinary responsibility for the team.

Your tasks and responsibilities

Transport Planning activities

  • Be the second escalation point for customers
  • Transport planning and handling (Road Transportation)
  • Inquiry and calculation of freight charges
  • Coordination and selection of shipping agents and freight carriers (Registration and handling of shipments)
  • Contact with international customers and carriers
  • Controlling of freight costs
  • Creation and handling of shipping documents and delivery notices
  • Ensure and organise monitoring of delivery dates
  • Find/ create/ optimize traffic synergies

Teamlead Responsibilities

  • Ensure workload and tasks are well organized and deadlines can and will be met
  • Create awareness in the team regarding costs / profit
  • Give guidance and motivation to the team by continuous training and performance measurement
  • Take full responsibility of the individual development of your team members
  • Initiate regular team meetings and follow-up on the outcome
  • Play an active role in the continuous improvement of the Overland business unit

Your skills and experience

  • Apprenticeship as forwarding agent or comparable qualification
  • Qualified experience in transport and / or forwarding (min. 5 years)
  • Solid Overland transport knowledge
  • English language in speaking and writing
  • Experiences with leading and driving a team to success
  • Commercial attitude
  • Cost effectiveness
  • Entrepreneurial thinking
